Abstract

The experiment was carried out in order to study the growth and yield performance of BAU-GPC fruit varieties in the Kurigram and Lalmonirhat Districts of Bangladesh. One year old saplings were used for research. All the experiments were conducted at the Nageshwari and Bhurungamari of Kurigram and Patgram and Aditmari of Lalmonirhat and BAU-GPC (Control), Department of Horticulture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during June 2010 to 42 months to find out the performance of these varieties. The experiments were laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. Result showed that the maximum plant height (1.92m), number of leaves/plant (290.37), number of fruits per plant (26.86), number of harvested fruits per plant (17.30), yield (4.43kg/plant) were obtained from BAU Aam-1 on other hand BAU Aam-6 were obtained the highest number of new branches/plant (10.74) and TSS content (21.56%). The highest weight of fruit (325.16g), weight of pulp (211.89g), weight of peel (54.08g) and weight of stone (59.35g) were found from BAU Aam-5; the maximum plant height (2.42m) and number of new branches/plant (16.42) were found from BAU Peyara-1 and the highest number of fruit per plant (19.92) were obtained from BAU Peyara-2 and the highest number of leaves/plant (391.96), number of harvested fruits per plant (11.50), weight of fruit (340.39g), yield (3.92kg/plant) and TSS content (13.00%) were recorded from BAU Peyara-5; the maximum plant height (1.57m), number of leaves/plant (227.22), number of harvested fruit per plant (71.97), weight of fruit (115.03g), yield (7.08kg/plant), weight of pulp (110.59g), weight of stone (4.30g), TSS content (21.50%) were obtained from BAU Kul-2 and the highest number of new branches per plant (7.07) and number of fruits/plant (90.42) were recorded from BAU Kul-1; The maximum plant height (2.17m), number of leaves per plant (713.30), number of new branches/plant (17.63) were found from the BAU Jamrul-1 and the highest number of fruits/plant (108.50), number of harvested fruits/plant (81.83), weight of fruit (33.21g), yield (2.05 kg/plant) and TSS content (12.96%) were recorded in the BAU Jamrul-2. The maximum plant height (1.87m), number of leaves/plant (459.00), number of new branches per plant (37.00), number of fruits per plant (7.00), number of harvested fruits per plant (4.00), weight of fruit (89.67g), yield (0.35kg/plant), weight of pulp (84.03g), weight of peel (3.63g), weight of stone (4.04g), TSS (23.80%) were recorded in BAU Sofeda-1. The maximum plant height (2.18m), number of leaves/plant (277.88), number of fruits per plant (11.71), number of harvested fruits per plant (8.33), yield (0.70 kg/plant), weight of peel (57.69g), TSS content (11.70%) were recorded in the BAU Lemon-3 and the BAU Lemon-1 produced the highest number of new branches per plant (5.53), weight of fruit (85.69g), weight of pulp (24.39g), weight of seeds (5.59g). Maximum plant height (2.81m), number of leaves per plant (937.67), number of new branches per plant (28.33), number of fruit per plant (77.00), number of harvested fruits per plant (62.33), weight of fruit (63.67g), yield (3.32 kg/plant) and TSS (20.07%) were recorded in BAU Kamranga-1. The maximum plant height (3.62m), numbers of leaves per plant (2392.00), number of new branches per plant (24.67) were found in BAU Amloki-1. BAU Malta-1 produce the maximum plant height (3.53m), number of leaves/plant (734.67), number of new branches per plant (18.33), number of fruit per plant (20.33), number of harvested fruits per plant (13.33),weight of fruit (179.33g), yield (1.86kg/plant), weight of pulp (125.38g), weight of peel (59.41g), weight of seeds (2.52g), TSS content (20.75%).
