The purpose of this study was to have an understanding of the relationship between job performance and job satis- faction of the Barangay Council officials, and to determine the factors that contribute significantly to their job per- formance and job satisfaction. Data were obtained from 112 Barangay Council officials of 19 barangays in 5 muni- cipalities of Laguna Province, Philippines.
The findings revealed that job performance and job satisfaction of the Barangay Council officials are two separate concepts and they are not related in a simple manner. The variables that significantly contributed to the variation in the job performance of the respondents were: age, number of training attended, leadership expe- rience, democratic leadership style, time allocation to Barangay Council affairs, attitude toward the Barangay
Council, attitude toward the community people, and com- munity problem awareness. These variables explained 53.27 percent of the total variation in the job performance of the Council officials. As regards to the contribution of factors to job satisfaction, three factors, namely: feeling of importance in the community, interpersonal relationships, and perception of community resources, contributed signi- ficantly to and explained 44.64 percent of the total varia- tion in the job satisfaction of the respondents.
